Encampment K-12 History

    • Original (aka Old) school was built with the elementary, library & office wings added later.
    • First class to graduate from Encampment School. The class had 8 graduates.
    • Flag pole at the Old School was erected.
    • The Old Gym (aka the Big Gym or Practice Gym) was constructed with the dedication being held on Januagry 16, 1970. “...brought an enthusiastic crowd of our taxpayers to see their investment. The 83-38 win over the Medicine Bow Wranglers started the Tigers on a successful home-stand of only one loss.” (E.H.S. Highlights Yearbook 1970)
    • Victory Bell rang for the first time at the January 16, 1970 dedication of the Old Gym. “The bell came to the valley to hang in the old school about 1903. In 1909 it was transported to the present school to do its duty. Soon after, the bell lost its glamour and shine and was forgotten. In January, the FFA boys took the old, rusty bell off the school and after a few hours of shining and polishing, she looked as good as new. Then, January 16, 1970, the bell took its proud position in our new gym to urge the Tigers to more victories.” (E.H.S. Yearbook 1970)
